The hotel was within walking distance of the Calgary Stampede parade and the Stampede park. As a midway break on our tour it was useful to have a washing machine and dryer and we were pleased to have our room serviced every morning.
The stairs are a climb with full suitcases and we were on the top floor. There is a lot of street noise during the night.
Be it this location was a butique Hotel, it measured up and exceeded my expectations. Rooms were well done and the close proximity to shopping and restaurants was great.
Parking was terrible.
Great room size, kitchen well equipped and a good bed. Good car parking
Carpet in the halls and entry very dirty and drab. It would not take much to change this.
Having a kitchen was very useful. For a longer stay, the washer/dryer would be good.
Quirky. Interesting room design (though see below), but dark and narrow halls. Although the room was clean, the hallways rugs were stained. Burnt- out bulb and missing rod for blinds. Somewhat sketchy neighborhood (e.g., hotel front door locked; security cameras). No security latch on the door (only an electronic pushbutton lock). No good desk space/chair to work in the room. Lighting was insufficient, incl. no light to read in bed. Stayed here because all downtown hotels were full. Staff helpful, but "front desk" (really just an office) not open before 9 AM. Had to request a box of tissues.
First, I must say this is not a conventional hotel. Most aspects of the room seem to have been designed with an original artistic sense with a focus on practical, functional, low cost solutions. So, while it was not luxurious, everything in the room served its purpose very well and the room was aesthetically quite pleasing. The staff were excellent in very way. We checked in early afternoon and our large bags were even carried up to our room for us! All the necessary kitchen supplies were in place (quality stainless steal), and there was soap for the washing machine. There was a full set of towels and quality bathroom supplies. The hinged mount for the large flat screen tv was great.
The floors are painted concrete, so they looked quite scratched, but are very clean, no doubt a lot cleaner than carpet. The dead bolt on the door appeared to have been overcome at some point by a boot and had not been properly repaired; however, we didn't feel we had reason to be concerned about a break in by some stranger. The toilet was very small and was not solidly fixed to the floor. We found the a/c rather noisy, but didn't need it with the window open and the fan re-situated.
The location was good for the business trip. The room was clean and well designed.
The staff was unfriendly and not service-oriented. It snowed for two days and the snow was not cleared from the stairs or the side walk. I was not made aware that there was no elevator or parking in the hotel. This was very inconvenient for me.
Suite was well equipped, clean, quiet and comfortable. I slept like a baby
Feeling that it was aconverted apartment block. Having to buzz to be let in. More like a hostel than a hotel
Spacious room, modern interior with a very good kitchen, friendly staff, supermarket across the street
No elevator (which could be a problem for some, not for us), a little further away from downtown than I thought, but still manageable by foot.
Freedom acess by the main entrance, you dont feel dealing with the staff all the time. In the room you got everything good feeling same like home. Weekend parking easy. The safeway just cross the street very useful!
The bed could be more comfortable, the ac is terrible.
Lots of room, several conveniences including laundry, stove, microwave, dishes provided, balcony with outdoor furniture, walking distance to restaurants, shopping.
Good, friendly staff. Excellent facilities for a long stay. Reasonable value for money.
No elevator, not disability friendly.
No elevator, poor climate control, having to bring the parking pass back after retrieving my car.
Very nice place with great design and decoration.
Suite was very comfortable and well equipped.
Entrance is a little off-putting. Doesn't equal the quality of the rooms.
